Formfeed as a Templated alternative
Templated is a canvas editor with an API: layers on fixed pages, the text or image of named layers replaced per request, images, PDFs and MP4 video as output, and data stored primarily in the United States. Formfeed designs images on a canvas as well (beta), and writes documents as HTML templates in Jinja2, Liquid or Handlebars, where a loop fills the table and the content flows onto the next page, edited in the browser or kept as files in your repository and rendered in the EU.

When Templated fits better
Video, an editor you embed in your own product for your customers, AI-generated templates and imports from Canva: Templated has them and Formfeed does not. The same goes for print pieces laid out page by page on a canvas; Formfeed’s canvas makes images, and its PDFs are HTML.
Switching in three steps
- Rebuild image templates on the canvas, from an article card, a quote card, an event story or a blank canvas of the same size, and bind each text layer to a field of your data.
- Write documents as HTML templates: a loop fills the table and the content flows onto the next page. The Blocks panel starts you with letterheads, invoice tables and payment codes.
- Send
datainstead oflayers: the fields your layers stood for become the template’s data, and a test key renders for free while you compare.
